With a partial grant from the Hawai'i Department of Agriculture and SeaGrant, Lloyd designed and built an educational facility to teach biological filtration. The facility is open to educators and the public at no charge, and dozens of school classes have made field trips to be encouraged to grow fish for consumption using ecologically friendly techniques, and scaled for a footprint that can fit in most residential yards. Lanikai Farms provides this service for students at no charge.
